Your fitness machine is already a fantastic way to get your cardio in.
Pair it with VR, and you’ve taken your workouts to a whole new level.
Add a heart rate monitor into the mix, and that’s where it all comes together.
Now, you’re not just exploring incredible virtual worlds while exercising. You’re also keeping track of how hard your body is working, giving you a better understanding of your workout.
Here’s how to bring all three together in HOLOFIT and get the most out of every workout.
Bring Your Fitness Machine Into VR
HOLOFIT works with rowing machines, stationary bikes, and ellipticals. Row faster, and you’ll move faster in VR. Slow down, and your virtual journey slows down too.
There are two main ways to connect your fitness equipment to HOLOFIT:
- Bluetooth fitness machines: Rowers, bikes, and ellipticals that support the FTMS Bluetooth standard can connect directly to HOLOFIT.
- Cadence sensors: If your stationary bike or elliptical doesn’t have compatible Bluetooth connectivity, you can add a simple cadence sensor to track your pedaling. Cadence sensors do NOT work with rowing machines.
Using a non-Bluetooth rower or HOLOFIT Freestyle? You can still enjoy HOLOFIT workouts without a Bluetooth-connected fitness machine, although heart rate monitor integration isn’t currently supported in these modes.
Stay Connected, From the Lobby
Once you’ve set up your Bluetooth fitness equipment, getting ready for your next workout is even easier. With our latest update, you’ll find a Bluetooth connection status indicator right in the HOLOFIT Lobby.
It shows whether your equipment is Connected, Connecting, or Disconnected, so you can check your connection at a glance before jumping into your next workout.
We’ve also made improvements to Bluetooth stability over recent updates, helping keep your equipment connected and your workouts running smoothly.
Less time checking connections, more time exploring!
Add a Heart Rate Monitor to Train Smarter
Your fitness machine tells HOLOFIT how you’re moving. But what about how hard your body is actually working?
That’s where a heart rate monitor comes in.
HOLOFIT supports compatible Bluetooth heart rate monitors, allowing you to track your heart rate in real time while exercising on your connected fitness machine.
Only physical heart rate monitors (like Polar, Wahoo, etc.) are supported at this time. Apps like Echo HR on Apple Watch that emulate a heart rate monitor via a phone or watch are not officially supported.
Why is that useful?
Imagine two workouts where you’re rowing at roughly the same pace. They might feel similar, but your heart rate can tell a different story.
Maybe you’re working harder than usual. Maybe you’ve improved your endurance and the same pace now requires less effort. Or perhaps you’re not recovering as much as you thought between intense intervals.
Keeping an eye on your heart rate gives you another useful piece of information to understand your performance and adjust your effort.
A quick setup tip: If you’re using a Bluetooth fitness machine alongside a heart rate monitor, make sure the Legacy Bluetooth driver is disabled in your HOLOFIT Settings.
Put It All Together With CardioGoals
Now that your equipment and heart rate monitor are connected, why not give your workout a little more structure?
HOLOFIT’s CardioGoals offers guided workouts including HIIT, Interval Training, Fat Burn, and Cardio.
Each workout comes with an effort curve to follow, helping you alternate between more demanding periods and recovery. And the heart rate monitor actually measures the effort your body produces during these intervals.
For example, during a HIIT session, you can follow the target effort curve while checking whether your heart rate increases during the intense sections and comes down during recovery.
This is the best way to identify the right difficulty level for you.
Ready for Your Next Workout?
VR makes cardio on fitness machines fun. A heart rate monitor helps you better understand your workouts.
Put the three together, and you’ve got a workout that’s fun, challenging, and informed by your own performance.
Already using HOLOFIT? Check your Bluetooth connection in the Lobby, pair your heart rate monitor, and give your next workout a try.
