Our newest addition to HOLOFIT is guaranteed to improve your VR fitness experience: welcome, new Combo Workouts!

These no-equipment workouts will activate all your muscles and help tone and strengthen your whole body. They are available in all our original HOLOworlds and located in the Train menu. You can do them in combination with fitness machine HOLOFIT workouts, or just on their own.

What’s new?

The concept is the same –

Combo Workouts begin with one random sports activity (Freestyle running, skiing or cycling) that takes you to an exercise platform where you have to complete a series of bodyweight exercises – squats, punches, and more, and then challenge you with the next sport activity.

In addition to squats, side squats, log cutting, and punches, we’ve added:

  • Ball throwing

Pick up the ball in front of you and try to be as precise as possible as you aim to throw it towards the center of the moving target. With higher difficulty levels targets become smaller and move faster.

  • Fruit slicing

Watch out for the two cannons located left and right. These will catapult a bunch of different fruit and your task is to slice them using your controllers, which have magically transformed into swords! Can you cut enough fruit for a refreshing fruit salad?

  • Boxing exercise

Our coach will help you with your boxing moves. Follow the instructions and punch the strike pads in front of you. Each pad corresponds to the color of your glove AKA controller.

You’ll also see a new stats screen once you finish a Combo Workout, now offering a more in-depth overview of your workout.

If you’ve never tried this HOLOFIT workout mode before, we recommend checking out the Combo Workouts Guide first.

Here are our pro tips on how to best integrate them into your VR Fitness workouts:

Combo Workouts Combined with Fitness Machines

If you’re using HOLOFIT on a fitness machine, give Combo Workouts a try at least once a week.
It’s a great opportunity to spice up your workout routine and activate parts of your body that your fitness machine may not necessarily engage.
Our workout suggestion:

Add in a combo workout as one of your weekly workouts. If you usually do three per week, make one of them a Combo. The more body muscles you activate, the better.

Combo Workouts As the Main HOLOFIT Activity

If you don’t have a fitness machine, use full-body Combo Workouts as your main activity.
Our workout suggestion:

  • Assess your fitness level and find your match

Try Combo Workouts on different difficulty levels until you identify the one that’s just challenging enough. Your workouts shouldn’t be too easy or too hard, it’s all about progression.

  • Try to exercise at least three times per week.
  • With time, workouts will become easier. That’s when you should go up a difficulty level. At first, ⅓ weekly workouts should be tougher. After a few weeks, do ⅔. And then slowly progress onto higher difficulty levels.
Combo Difficulty levels include very easy, easy, medium, hard, and very hard.

Combo Workouts With Other Freestyle Sports

If you’re looking for a lighter routine, use our Freestyle Sports as your main activity, and add in one weekly Combo Workout to switch it up.

Our workout suggestion:

  • Once per week, incorporate Combo Workouts into your routine.
  • Use the appropriate difficulty settings to ensure you don’t overdo yourself, and listen to your body. Not too hard, not too easy: that should be what you strive for.

Doing these once per week will help you in the long run, and speed up your fitness progress.
